GREGORY IFEANYI MBAKWE

Mbakwe, I. Greg, formally joined the services of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in 2014 as a Scientific Officer. He was deployed to the FCT Health Services Scheme (FHSS), now FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS), where he worked steadfastly under the then Programme Manager to drive the enrolment of staff of the Administration into the formal sector health insurance scheme and increase demand for healthcare services through sensitization and awareness creation.
He further participated in the rollout of the FCT - Community Based Health Insurance Scheme (FCT-CBHIS) through sensitization, advocacy, ICT, and community mobilization, as part of efforts by the FCT Administration to increase access to affordable and qualitative healthcare delivery in the rural communities of the FCT including hard-to-reach areas, and more importantly cater to the health needs of the indigents and vulnerable groups in such communities.
In 2018, he was deployed to the Department of Medical and Diagnostics, Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS). While in Medical and Diagnostics Department, he assisted in policy development and served in the Secretariat of various Committees including the FCT Medical Board from 2018 to 2019 and attended various workshops including the review of the FHIS Standard Treatment Guideline (STG) in 2018.
Currently, Greg, is deployed to the Private Health Establishments Registration and Monitoring Committee (PHERMC), a division under the Medical and Diagnostic Department, with the statutory responsibility of registering and regulating private health practice in the FCT.
Under the leadership and guidance of the Registrar, PHERMC, he is working alongside a team of dedicated staff to ensure a well-regulated private sector that delivers qualitative healthcare services in the FCT. In the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Greg, served in the Secretariat of the FCT COVID-19 Facilities Accreditation Committee (FCT COVID-19 FAC) for the accreditation of COVID-19 facilities as Isolation and Treatment Centres (ITCs), and Testing Centres, and subsequently, a member of the FCT COVID-19 Consortium under the guidance of the Programme Manager. He is interfacing with implementing partners in a public-private partnership for the digitization of PHERMC processes among other things.
Mbakwe, Ifeanyi Gregory is an Old Boy of the renowned Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS), Onitsha, and a University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) alumnus with interests in healthcare system strengthening, process optimization and ICT integration.
