REGISTRAR, PHERMC

DR.
AYUBA KAZZAH

Dr. Ayuba Kazzah is the Registrar, Private Health Establishments Registration and Monitoring Committee (PHERMC). He joined the services of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) as a Medical Officer on Grade Level 12 in 2002 and rose through the ranks to Grade Level 17 in 2016.

Prior to his deployment to PHERMC in 2016 he has worked in several FCTA Hospitals, Wuse General Hospital, Asokoro General Hospital and Abaji General Hospital. At Wuse General Hospital, Dr. Kazzah, was the Physician of the Project Management Team of HIV/AIDS following the introduction of Antiretroviral Therapy Treatment.  He was the Medical Director (MD) of Abaji General Hospital from 2009 - 2015 when the hospital witnessed a huge transformation through his diligence, hardwork and inclusive leadership. In 2013, Abaji General Hospital won the award as the most improved General Hospital In the FCT.

Following his deployment to PHERMC in 2016, he headed the Inspection Team from 2016 to 2019 and during that time so many illegal health facilities operating in the FCT were detected and shutdown. PHERMC witnessed remarkable improvements in terms of effective coordination of inspections and enforcement of PHERMC Guidelines in private health facilities including hard to reach areas under the leadership of the then Registrar.

In 2019, the mantle of leadership fell on him, naturally, following his work ethic, diligence, and faith in the possibility of a sanitized private health sector that can deliver qualitative healthcare services to the residents of the FCT. Since then, the fortunes of PHERMC have consistently witnessed an upward trend from increasing internally generated revenue, increasing number of registered private health facilities, reduction in the rate of quackery and improved PHERMC processes. Owing to this, Dr. Ayuba Kazzah, in 2022 was recognized and won an award for his outstanding performance, dedication and commitment to serve by the then Minister of FCT, Musa Bello.
